TheStory of Lost
Lostwas your average young man. He lived five blocks from my house and hewas jaw- dropping handsome. Lost had only one friend who rarelyvisited him. Lost spent his time doing work in the nearby factorywhere he was employed as a junior manager. He was rumored to bepassionate about his job. Nobody knew much about Lost in theneighborhood. His immediate neighbors did not interact with hieither. Lost was said to be courteous but not friendly. His laid-back nature and attractive looks attracted many girls to him, but henever showed any interest. One outstanding thing about him is that healways wore his cap and made sure it slanted on the side. This madehim even more handsome and made him more noticeable among the girls.
Lost’sfriend visited him occasionally and according to his neighbors, theywould spend many hours indoors with loud music. It was only when hisfriend visited that his neighbors would hear the noise from hishouse. Lucky never allowed anyone else into his house and even whenpeople knocked on his door, he would open the door and step outsideto talk to them. Lost, however, would always make sure he had histrademark cap on. Jane, the most daring girl, knocked on his doormany times and each time, she would not be let into his house. Janesaid that Lost had the most attractive pair of blue eyes, but he wasan introvert. Even after spending endless hours with him, Lost wouldnot talk much or give much information about himself.
Themystery of Lost came crushing on one sunny Saturday in summer. Theusually quiet neighborhood was brought to life by loud sirens atabout 2 p.m. We all ran outside to see what the commotion was about. To the utter dismay of everyone, the Federal Bureau of Investigationsofficers had surrounded Lost’s block. Lost was escorted out of hishouse with cuffs and this time round, with no cap. We finally got tosee Lost without his trademark cap. Everyone was shocked. Jane wasembarrassed for flirting with Lost. She had even left her boyfriendtwo weeks before because she thought she was making progress onproject Lost.
Thelocal security officials took it upon themselves to brief us aboutthe events. It turned out that handsome, mysterious, Lost, was aknown art thief in the country and he had moved to our area to coverhis tracks. His mysterious friend was an expert in picking locks andLost’s real name was George. Lost never put his cap down as he wastrying to present a new image to avoid police detection. Lost usedhis good looks to steal from ladies as he never had to use any effortto charm girls and he was known for his tactics in many towns apartfrom our sleepy town.
Lostnever stole from his neighbors and he was generous to his neighbors. He occasionally bought candy for the children and played footballwith them. His motto was ‘Nobody gets hurt and everybody stayshappy.’ Jane, the daring girl of the area is yet to recover herpride and her boyfriend. Rumor has it that her boyfriend wantsnothing to do with her. All the boys in the area are also notinterested in her as she was mean and abusive to them because of Lostthe lost kleptomaniac. We also took the liberty of visiting Lost’shouse. The house was like an art museum with the most beautiful artpieces any of us had ever seen.
