SECURITY MANAGER INTERVIEW 4
Tolearn more about the security of an organization, I interviewed Mr.Jockel Hilliard the security manager Contractor Building Houses. Theinterview took place at the host company offices at 8:00 am on the8th of May, 2014.
Themost surprising information I got from the interview is that thesecurity measures of Contractor Building Houses are one of the mainconsiderations of their hiring process. I never knew that the humanresource hiring process is a practical part of the security measure. For example, the company carries intensive pre-employment screeningfor all recruits and only qualifies those with undoubted integrityand security levels. The reason this aspect surprised me is that mostconventional organizations do not consider hiring as a major part ofthe security measusre. However, Contractor Building Houses takes theprocess with a higher level of significance in its security measures.
Fromthe interview, I learnt two practical things that are not part of thetext or theoretical knowledge on security. One main thing I learntfrom the manager concerning security planning is that all thedepartments are involved in the formulation of security policies andmanuals. He further informed that all the departments are involved inupdating all the details on the security manual, “even the smallestdetails of the policies or manual” (Hilliard, 2014). I also learntthat the security measures of the company are extensively trainedwith all the members of the organization both the recruits and theold members.
Policiesand procedures are important aspects of security management in theplanning and implementation of security. Policies and proceduresprovide the guidelines for the organizational operations on a dailybasis, which gives an organization the basis for continual adherenceto safety. In addition, policies and procedures provide the basis foridentifying the risky areas of an organization in terms of securityand safety. Moreover, policies and procedures provide the basis fortraining new members of the organization as well as the currentmembers. In consideration of the interview, Mr. Hilliard indicatedthat their policies and procedures at Contractor Building Houses areimportant in the training process at the company.
