Theart of giving back to society has been with us for centuries,multinational corporations donated funds to assist in building ofsocial amenities to benefit the society. In recent times blackAfrican Americans successful in their different industries aredonating their time and money to projects like HIV/AIDS, cancerawareness and other UN associated forums. Giving back according toAbdul-Mussawwir has been a learning experience which has continued tospark creativity in his work. Giving back to society opens up thesociety’s perception of one’s work and provides a learningexperience for many[ CITATION San14 l 1033 ]. In givingback to the black community Abdul-Musawwir has received manyaccolades in his name on the different subjects he tackles. Donatinghis artistic talents to universities has given him growth on the typeof art he wants to relay. He has worked with numerous childrenprograms to share his artistic knowledge and many times his supplies.He understands very well the impact visual arts has on communitiesand continues to add that is important to relay messages that peopleunderstand[ CITATION San14 l 1033 ]. He shares an experienceof a young woman who benefited from the breast 1cancerseries. The lady understood the need to be checked and was found witha lump and it was removed. This for him was a gift to see the impacthis art was having in the community. It is important to give back tothe community especially when work provides real meaning to everydaylife. Through his art he has continued to encourage women to beexamined and through contributions many have received treatments. Hisart has encouraged and saved lives in the same way which isincredible[ CITATION San14 l 1033 ].
