In simple terms, manypeople across the globe have learnt the advantage of using web intheir activities. It has, therefore, got adopted by many persons. Thedocument analyzes the use of internet services and the prevailingadvantages as well as disadvantages of using web.
Theinterview was conducted to an interviewer’s father on the use ofinternet. He stated in a conversation that he worked as a personnelmanager in his company. In an interview, he stated that he constantlymakes use of the web on a daily basis. He also revealed that in hisline of duty email is a paramount aspect that he makes use the mosttime of the day. It is through checking any sent information onbehalf of the company. He also revealed that the company possessed acompany website that he found very useful in marketing the company. The interviewee indicated that after the installation of the website, the company has greatly developed. In an interview, father alsorevealed that they made use of directory profiles. Father also gave apositive response on the question of whether they incorporated use ofsocial media positively (Gubrium& Holstein, 2001).He claimed that the company has a facebook page as well as twitterhandle that are effective.
Theother interview conducted involved a middle aged man. He revealed tothe interviewer that he was called Mr. Roy, and was a student. He however revealed that he hardly usedsocial media since he believed it was not healthy for peers (Gillham,2005).
Thereare several merits associated to the use of web by people in themodern day. Among the benefits is that it aids organizations to gainpresentation worldwide. Every company engaged in e-business has botha nationwide as well as worldwide presence. It also develops a costeffective promotions and marketing. Web presence help businesses tomarket their products not only nationally but also internationally. It also helps in the development of an excellent competitivestrategy. All firms require an effective competitive strategy for itto have a competitive advantage. Without an efficient strategy, firmswill find it difficult to maintain the advantage and also to earnprofits (Howard& Jones, 2004).
Webpresence also possesses the advantage of allowing a better customerservice. The website visiting customers usually get the availablecustomer service that usually helps him or her on all the questionsthat he or she may require to know about the company. Moreover, purchase and payments can get made online and hence the customer willget his or her request without leaving his or her house. Anotheradvantage towards the use of internet is the reduction of overheadcosts. Physical entities in the business are eliminated by the use ofinternet. It becomes possible to manage utility bills together withother expenses. The number of personnel working in the company getsreduced (Yar,2006).

However, there also exist several disadvantages towards the use of internet inorganizations. Among the disadvantages is the limitation in somesectors, as a result, growth get hindered. An example to the sectorsthat have got hindered is the food sector. Some of the food productsare perishable thus consumers do not use the internet to look for theproducts. Another disadvantage is the aspect of safety. Some of thepayments are made online, and there is a risk of vandalism. Thesecurity of the data updated by the company is also at risk. Hackingis a common phenomenon at the present time, and the data may getaltered by unauthorized persons with ill motives. The issue ofprivacy is also another menace associated with the internet. Peopledo not achieve privacy when their personal information is availableonline. Precaution measures are thus advisable to any person ororganization that uses the internet (Howard& Jones, 2004).
DigitalPortfolios can result to major improvements in the classroom. The useof digital portfolios’ in teaching enables the students to expandon their techniques as well as the techniques of the teachers inlearning demonstrations. The use of pictures, audio recording andvideos is possible, and they assist the students in learning. Anotherbenefit towards the use of digital portfolios is to help learners whohave difficulty in reading and writing. The portfolios allocate theman alternative method of expressing themselves. As a result, theirself-confidence is increased, and they as well achieve in class. Theissue of accessibility is also another aspect. Parents and teachersare able to monitor students’ progress in the classroom (Yar,2006).
Anotheradvantage towards the use of digital portfolios is the development oforal as well as written communication. The digital portfolio offersthe best method of ensuring that students are conversant with thesurvival skills. The students are also able to demonstrate theirdevelopment over a period. The paperwork gets stored or lost over aperiod but on the case of a digital portfolio the information cannever get lost. The information is available for the students andparents to refer to in the future (Howard& Jones, 2004).
